In the IWHL's inaugural draft, the Hawks went with a team GM Jeff felt could win the cup in the 1st year. Despite the trend with a lot of teams focusing on young whipper snappers who need a few more years before they can take off the training wheels. The Hawks picked the Geezers that have been there and done that. With an average age of 31.9 the Hawks, GM Jeff wont worry about having too many of his players missing the team curfew. Thats because Matlock is on at 8pm and lights out will be at 9:01.
Now some of the fans in the windy city are worried about how the team will be in 4 or 5 years. But Jeff made a public statement that the Hawks will win the 1st ever Stanley Cup in the IWHL and when a team has success early, the young players will flock to the city and want to play for winners.
When asked about which coach Jeff is considering he only hinted that Barry "The Mullet Never Dies" Melrose is a top prospect. And thats because Jeff believes any man that can wear a mullet and bring a Southern California team into the finals, he just might be Superman.
Stay tuned, more to come....
