The Minnesota Wild are on a 5 game winning streak and some seem to think it has a bit to do with aquisition of new goaltender Martin Biron.
Biron was aquired in a deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets last week in return for struggeling goalie Dwayne "Rollie the Goalie" Roloson. Since coming over to Minnesota Martin Biron has won 5 consecutive games thus stealing the starting job from french goalie Cristobal Huet. Biron has given up only 8 goals in those 5 games, his most being 3 in a game vs Detroit. When asked about his succes Biron had the following to say "I'm just as surprised as you are" The french canadian goalie said. " The team has been playing well in front of me lately so don't give me all the credit. The top line which has newly been formed since i arrived here is also playing well" Biron said refering to the line combination of Saku Koivu, Richard Zednik and Michael Ryder.
"Everything seems to be going smooth here" GM and League Commissioner Andrea Gordon said. "We made some key deals brining in Ryder and Biron last week which seems to have sparked the team. Let's just hope we can continue on this winning path.
Can Minnesota keep it up, or or will they fade into the standings. Only time will tell.
