ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta finally was able to acquire a capable backup to Patrick Lalime. Dominek Hasek was acquired from the Detroit Red Wings for R.J. Umberger and a 5th round draft choice.
Dale: "Hasek gives us a significant upgrade in the backup position. He is a veteran who we believe will help us in the playoff run. He will not have to play every day so we do not think he will be worn down."
Umberger, who was acquired in an earlier trade had yet to really find a spot him the team due to Kozlov's return from injury.
Dale: "Umberger is a solid player with great upside, but with Kozlov's return from injurt and LaRose's emergence, we had no room for him and therefore he was traded."
