Toronto Gm Jason Parnell and Head Coach Pat Quinn held a press conference to introduce the players that they drafted in the inaugural season of the IWHL,First they would like to introduce the captains,Captain Mats Sundin,Alternate Paul Kariya,and Alternate Jeff O'Neill.
Now they would like to announce what their lines might end up being,these lines aren't final but here they are Mats Sundin will be centering the #1 line with Paul Kariya on the left side and Owen Nolan on the right.The second line is Brenden Morrison at center,Martin Rucinsky on the left side and Tony Amonte on the right.The third line is Jeff O'neill at center,Tyler Arnason on the left side and Ales Kotalik on the right.And finally the fourth line is Alex Steen at center,Ray Whitney on the left side and Marcel Hossa on the right.They also drafted Rene Bourque and Jaroslav Balastik who will help out in the future.
Now for their defense corp Tomas Kaberle and Jay Bouwmeester will be the first pairing,Mike Rathjie and Darryl Sydor will be teamed up together,Ruslan Salei and Aki Berg the final pairing,they also have youngsters Ryan Suter and Tim Gleason who will be starting the season on their farm team the Toronto Marlies.Now the goalies starting in goal Eddie Belfour and backing up Vesa Toskala.They have Jussi Markkanen to be the goalie in the farm.
Gm Parnell was asked about the nucleaus of his team and he replied by asying"I like the makeup of my team,its a mix of vets and youth and the vets will be able to help the young guys develop,we have also be doing alot of scouting getting ready for the prospects draft hoping to get some young guys that might be able to step in"he also added that they aren't done they likely will be busy during the mini free agent signing period to fill a couple of holes.
